Foolproof Hard-Boiled Eggs

Place egg[s] in pan of cold water. Bring just to a boil. Turn off pan. When the water is cool enough to put your hand in, take them out.

More eggs require longer to come to a boil, both in amount of water used and mass of the eggs, so the same rule about turning off the pan just after the water reaches a boil will work for any number of eggs.
