How to Give Your Dog a Pill
This is pretty easy, actually. There are several methods.
- Put the pill in your hand and act as though the pill is a treat! Make the dog sit and offer the pill. Especially with capsules, which are toothsome and thus satisfy the chewing urge, I find this works well. Tablets, which universally seem to be bitter, are another matter. You need subterfuge.
- If the previous method fails, put a piece of dry dogfood in your palm. Sometimes he'll take both the food and the pill.
- If he starts to be selective and leave the pill (the little devil!), wrap the pill in a little piece of cheese. It'll be down the hatch before he even knows he's had it. This always works. (If you prefer, use a bit of meat.)
