1 c regular rolled oats ("regular oatmeal", not-quick cooking)
1 c quick-cooking barley
1 c quick-cooking bulgar
1 c quick-cooking brown rice
1/3 c sugar (or equivalent sweetener)
1 T ground cinnamon
1/4 t salt (I use less)
raisins, dried cranberries, dried blueberries, dried cherries, dried apricots (small dice), optional
coarsely-chopped walnuts, sliced almonds, optional
Mix well and store in closed container. Cook 8 minutes at 50% power. Check after 3-4 minutes, in case you need to add water. Serve with milk, half and half, etc.
Serving for 1: 3/4 cup water + 1/3 c mix
Adding fruits and nuts is a you-choose proposition. Add no more than 1/2 c of dried fruits and 1/4 c or so of nuts to the above mixture. At least, this is my preference!
